GSOV's 2017 Season is:

We’ll Gather Lilacs: The Novello Years

February 25-26 and March 4-5 at 3pm
This Musical Theatre work highlights such shows as The Dancing Years, Glamourous Night, Careless Rapture, Perchance to Dream and King’s Rhapsody, which take us back to London’s West End years 1935-1950, when Ivor Novello was the English King of Musical Comedy.

Iolanthe

May 5 at 8PM; May 6 at 2PM and 8PM; May 7 at 3PM
Recently voted as one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular operas amongst G&S aficionados. It contains some of Sullivan’s best music to accompany Gilbert’s humorous dialogue and libretto. Four performances only at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre, corner St Georges Road and Bell Street, Preston.

A Song to Sing-O

July 8 at 8PM; July 9 at 3PM; July 14 at 8PM; July 15 at 8PM; July 16 at 3PM
Melvyn Morrow’s musical theatre production portrays the life and times of George Grossmith, the patter singer and early star of Richard D’Oyly Carte’s productions of the Gilbert & Sullivan operas. Music by Arthur Sullivan; lyrics by WS Gilbert; additional music and lyrics by George Grossmith. Five performances only at the Phoenix Theatre, 101 Glenhuntly Road, Elwood.

The Pirates of Penzance

October 26 at 8PM; October 27 at 8PM; October 28 at 2PM and 8PM; October 29 at 3PM
The perennial favourite Gilbert and Sullivan opera featuring Mabel and her female followers’ encounter with an infamous band of pirates from the Cornish coastal town of Penzance, with the ensuing hilarious consequences. Five performances only at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre, corner St Georges Road and Bell Street, Preston.



For each of these operas the company is currently negotiating for additional performances in regional and Melbourne suburban venues.
